Our flock of laying hens (and a rooster) are entirely free range, and live out their full lives here on the farm. We have a mixed flock of Golden Comet, Plymouth Barred Rock, Buff and Lavender Orpingtons, Black Australorps, Rhode Island Reds, Silver-Laced Black and Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes (all brown egg layers), Brown Leghorns (white egg layers), and Americaunas (blue egg layers).

 

The chickens roam freely over the yard and pastures throughout the day, and move into their charming tiny house to roost at night, safe from the owls, possums and raccoons.
